When you schedule your surgery with Our Lady of the Lake, we ensure you're prepared for your procedure, whether you're with us one day or overnight.
Our Pre-Admissions and Registration Center (PARC) staff helps facilitate a smooth surgical experience, educating patients and families on what to expect, and arranging pre-surgical testing and counseling with an anesthetist.
OLOL also has an expanded surgery area to make the experience as comfortable as possible for you and your family. Guests are greeted at the St. Mary's Admissions desk on the second floor, and when it's time for surgery, the family is escorted to a private area to wait comfortably both before surgery and during recovery. These rooms are staffed with volunteers who give regular updates, and include a sitting area where family members can remain with the patient post-surgery.
Children are also special guests when coming to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital for surgery. Our younger patients and their families experience the same best-in-class care in an area designed just for kids.
OLOL's expert surgical teams are equipped with the latest technologies, including our da Vinci Surgical System®, a sophisticated robotic platform that enables complex, minimally invasive surgery. This robot helps surgeons avoid surrounding tissue to minimize and control bleeding, while its 3D vision shows more details for better patient outcomes.
In addition to OLOL's industry-leading weight loss surgeries, we're the only hospital in the area to offer T.E.M. (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery), a highly specialized, minimally invasive surgery for colon cancer.
