Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital has received a $50,000 donation from the Fore!Kids Foundation, producer of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, announced Steve Worthy, CEO of the foundation.
Worthy made the announcement at the press conference for the sixth annual L’Auberge Baton Rouge Zurich Classic Pro Am, which will be played at the University Club April 23, 2014.
"We are grateful for the work of the Fore! Kids Foundation as they contribute to improving the lives of children in our state. Their gift of $50,000 will go toward our Pediatric Transport Program which serves children across the state and brings critically ill children from referring facilities to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital for a higher level of care not available in the child's home town," said Scott Wester, President & Chief Executive Officer, Our Lady of the Lake. .
“Raising funds for children’s charities through golf has been the primary mission of the Fore!Kids Foundation since our founding in 1958,” said Worthy. “We are gratified that we have been able to expand our contributions to the Baton Rouge area, which supports our golf tournament so enthusiastically. That’s another reason we have established a separate Pro Am in Baton Rouge that brings the experience of playing with a PGA TOUP professional right here before our tournament begins in New Orleans,” he added.
The $50,000 donation to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is the largest but by no means the only contribution to Baton Rouge area charities, said Worthy. Altogether, the Fore!Kids Foundation will donate more than $100,000 this year to charities in Baton Rouge.
