Faster, More Accessible Emergency and Trauma Care for All

As part of the collaboration with LSU, Our Lady of the Lake will open a new Level I Trauma Center - a facility that can treat the most extreme emergencies, from car accidents to all types of serious injuries. Patients will have immediate access to top specialists, including trauma surgeons, following criteria for the highest level of trauma care.

The investment in a new trauma center will mean faster emergency care overall, not just for trauma patients but for everyone who uses the ER. Patients will be seen faster, and lives will be saved. It's a proven fact that more lives are saved in communities that have a Level I Trauma Center.

The Trauma Center becomes an integral part of the overall ER, including expanded capacity for adults and children. The entire ER complex will be approximately the size of a football field. Level I Trauma at The Lake will be the newest piece of the puzzle, protecting our community with urgent care, emergency care and trauma care. These puzzle pieces include the Lake's main hospital ER and new trauma center, urgent care clinics and doctor's offices around the community. This allows people to get the care they need close to home, in the right setting - trauma care for people facing life or death injuries, emergency care for people suffering real emergencies and urgent care for people with minor injuries or illnesses.
