Important Facts We Would Like You to Know:
- We're training doctors for our future. Having this strong physician training program in Baton Rouge assures there will be doctors to take care of our families. New doctors will want to practice here so there will be more specialized services. Approximately 70 percent of Louisiana's doctors either trained or were educated at LSU.
- OLOL will add a Level I Trauma Center for the community. More lives are saved in communities that have this important healthcare resource with specialized physicians.
- A public-private model for graduate medical education saves the taxpayer money compared to building and operating a new university hospital in Baton Rouge.
- ER care for all local hospitals should be faster. With the Level I Trauma Center, the new LSU 24/7 Urgent Care Clinic and the expanded LSU clinics there will be more options for care.
- This better model of care will rival the best academic programs in our country. Programs like Duke, Baylor and Johns Hopkins.
