Team Member Awards & Recognition
Our Lady of the Lake team members soon realize the true reward for a job well done is the smile they bring to someone's face or the heartfelt appreciation expressed by a patient's loved ones. However, OLOL values our hardworking team members, and we strive to provide additional acknowledgement of ideas, effort, and dedication with a variety of recognition and reward programs.
Franciscan Service Awards
Inspired by the vision of St. Francis, this monthly award was established to recognize team members who embody our mission and our core values and who often go the "extra mile." What makes the award so special is that team members are offered a chance to nominate their own peers who live the Mission and Core Values and set an example for others to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Recipients are eligible for an all-expense paid Franciscan Pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy, the birthplace of St. Francis, our patron Saint.
Sometimes just a simple note recognizing someone's effort can brighten a day. At OLOL, Spirit Grams can be sent to recognize team members for giving something extra beyond the call of duty, or simply for making someone's day with a smile. Team members can send Spirit Grams to peers, and patients are encouraged to use this tool as well, as an expression of gratitude.
What happens when your manager catches you performing outstanding service or care? You may receive a Blue Spirit Chip! Managers often recognize team members with these chips, which can be redeemed for snacks in the hospital cafe, merchandise in the hospital gift shop and at on-site Company Store sales. It's just another way OLOL "chips in" to help keep team member spirit alive and well!
Extra Mile Award
This award is typically given to a team member or group of team members recognizing their efforts for going the "extra mile" to provide excellent customer service to our patients, families or guests. Individuals selected for this award embody our Core Values and serve as models of our Service Standards. They are recognized at a monthly leadership meeting and typically receive a gift certificate from the hospital. The story along with a photo of the team member is posted on our intranet so it can be shared with others.

Nurses at OLOL work hard to fulfill our mission in an environment brimming with exceptionally high standards and constant challenges. OLOL's Nurse Excellence Award program recognizes these team members who display outstanding strength, demonstrate compassion and believe wholeheartedly in their commitment to nursing. Every year, nearly 100 nurses are nominated by their peers. It is one of the most important and prestigious awards we give. We recognize the recipients with their photos in the local paper to show the community how proud we are of them.

Although we celebrate each department's special week, our big celebration occurs during Hospital Week. Each May, this special week is dedicated to team members in appreciation for all they do throughout the year to make OLOL a great place to work and receive exceptional care. Past activities include gifts, prizes, special lunches, ice cream treats, evening parties, "Casual Dress Day" and even "Sports Day" with appearances by well-known LSU and Southern athletes.
