Our Lady of the Lake Earns Highest Chest Pain Accreditation 06/19/2013
Recognition fromthe Society of Chest Pain Centers for excellence in quality patient care
A heart attack is a frightening event, and you probably don't want to think about it. Similar to a hurricane plan, you can also make a plan should you have a heart attack. This will save time and could help save your life.
As you build your plan, consider the following:
Learn the warning signs of a heart attack and discuss your risk with your doctor.
Think about what you would do if you had heart attack symptoms. Think about your plan if it happens at home, in the middle of the night, or at work.
Act fast by calling 911. It is safer to call 911 rather than drive yourself. Paramedics can begin treating your symptoms before you arrive at the hospital.
Keep your insurance card, a list of medications and an emergency contact in your purse or wallet.
If you or someone you know comes to our ER with chest pain, our physicians, nurses, and other staff follow proven, evidence-based protocols in line with the highest quality standards of medicine. In fact, Our Lady of the Lake recently earned Chest Pain Accreditation, Cycle IV, which is the highest cycle awarded. In order to receive this high level of accreditation, the Lake completed a rigorous on-site evaluation by the Society of Chest Pain Centers and demonstrated excellence in quality patient care. The Cycle IV Chest Pain Accreditation means when a patient goes to Our Lady of the Lake with chest pain, they will receive care that meets or exceeds national quality of care measures in cardiac care.
At Our Lady of the Lake, we are committed to providing you, your employees, and our entire community with the best care possible. Our recent recognition and the addition of our new Heart and Vascular Tower scheduled to open later this year are testament to the Lake’s commitment to the constant improvement that always brings you our best.
