Specialized pediatric
care, close to home.
Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital
opened its doors in 1945, just in time for the nation's baby boom era. As our
community and its need for specialized pediatric care have grown, so have our
services. Today, as part of the largest private hospital in Louisiana, The
Children’s Hospital at Our Lady of the Lake offers comprehensive pediatric
services few facilities in the region can match.
Among the Children’s Hospital's unique offerings are
the area's largest Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the area's only pediatric
emergency room, both of which assure our young patients life-saving care when
they need it… close to home. The following is a brief description of some of our
services.

child is a patient in the Children’s Hospital, you will probably meet a number
of professionals on our staff, including nurses, nursing assistants, patient

Specialist
Child Life Specialists A
hospital can seem like a big and scary place for children. To diminish the fear
and anxiety many children feel before, during and after medical procedures,
OLOL's child advocates, called Child Life Specialists, meet with children to
describe in easy-to-understand terms, what they can expect from their stay at
the Children's Hospital. Therapeutic play offers fun and creative ways to
alleviate fears and administer some treatments.
