12/10/2009
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center has been recognized with the
2008 Level III Louisiana Performance Excellence Award given by the Louisiana
Quality Foundation. The Level III Louisiana Performance Excellence Award is the
highest honor awarded by the Louisiana Quality Foundation and earned by
organizations for outstanding results in key focus areas including:
organizational leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, workforce focus,
process management as well as measurement and analysis.
“This award is
earned by organizations considered to be among the elite of Louisiana
industries,” said David Stoltz, President, Louisiana Quality Foundation. “It’s
rare for a hospital to earn this honor and for Our Lady of the Lake it is
evidence that the organization is working hard both on the frontlines and behind
the scenes to achieve the highest standards of quality in their everyday
operations."
“Our Lady of the Lake is committed to performance excellence which ensures
that our patients have a best-in-class experience every day,” said Scott Wester,
Chief Executive Officer, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. “Earning
this award recognizes our entire team – all of our 4,000 employees – who live
our mission and deliver great results each and every day.”
The Louisiana Performance Excellence Award is a statewide award based
on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria recognizing quality
leadership and performance excellence in education, government, manufacturing,
service industries, healthcare, and non-profit organizations. Organizations that
apply to be considered for this award do so under one of three levels. Level I
applicants are in the early stages of performance improvement and are judged on
their organizational profile. Level II applicants submit an organizational
profile and information related to their leadership, strategic planning,
customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, human
resource focus, and process management. Level III applicants submit for review
of all the information listed above plus information on their business
performance results and must participate in a rigorous site visit to demonstrate
excellence and quality.
Our Lady of the Lake was honored at a private reception at the Governor’s
Mansion on June 16, 2009. Other recipients honored at the reception include
Louisiana Economic Development at Level II, and the U. S. Coast Guard Integrated
Support Command New Orleans at Level II. Louisiana Performance Excellence Award
promotes quality awareness and best practices in Louisiana and recognizes the
quality achievements of Louisiana organizations.
The award is administered by the Louisiana Quality Foundation, a non-profit
organization founded in 1995 to promote use of the Baldrige criteria by
Louisiana organizations. To learn more, visit www.louisianaquality.org.
