Opened in 1983, the Tau Center has earned a reputation in the Baton Rouge community for restoring lives and renewing families through the 12-step philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The Tau Center's services include:

  • assessment and diagnosis
  • medically based detoxification
  • rehabilitation
  • Family Program
  • continuing care and support services

Inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment options are available, depending on individual need. The inpatient program includes medical management of detoxification along with education and individual, group and family therapy in a safe, structured environment. In addition to substance abuse, treatment is inclusive of compulsive gambling, co-dependency and other addictive behaviors. The average inpatient stay is from three to six days.

Offered three nights a week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Intensive Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program allows individuals the flexibility to return to work, school or home while still attending the program. Treatment spans from five to seven weeks to allow time for individuals to build the necessary support systems for a successful recovery.

Other services include:

  • Intervention training
  • Community Educational presentations
  • Weekend Awareness Education Program for individuals considered at risk for chemical dependency
