About Us
About Our Lady of the Lake Our Lady of the Lake is one of the largest private medical centers in Louisiana, with more than 700 licensed beds and an 11-parish service area. In a given year, Our Lady of the Lake treats more than 35,000 patients in the hospital and serves more than 350,000 persons through outpatient locations with the assistance of more than 1,000 physicians and 4,000 team members.
Recent Accomplishments Being our best earns us the trust and loyalty of our community. Our mission is about people-the same mission that inspired our Franciscan Sisters who came to Louisiana 100 years ago.

- Ranked a number one hospital in the Baton Rouge Metro Area and high performing in the Ear, Nose and Throat specialty by U.S. News & World Report. OLOL Physician Group's Dr. Moises Arriaga and Dr. Daniel Nuss are listed in the top 1% of Ear, Nose and Throat doctors in the nation.
- Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credential Center's Magnet Recognition Program®-achieved by only five percent of hospitals in the country
- Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence* by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery-one of only 431 facilities in the nation to be recognized
- "Consumer Choice Award" for the 12th consecutive year from the National Research Corporation for being the hospital with the highest overall quality and image in the Baton Rouge metro area
- Blue Cross Blue Shield "Center of Blue Distinction for Knee and Hip Replacement"
- Invested in the da Vinci Surgical System, a robotic platform which uses a minimally invasive approach for complex surgery. OLOL is the only hospital in the area using this technology for kidney removal and complex head and neck procedures and the first in the area for prostate removal
- Introduced the first pediatric residents and opened the Pediatric Academic Clinic for continuity of care. OLOL's program is the first new pediatric residency program to begin in the country in the past five years.
- Executed a formal agreement with LSU and the state that establishes OLOL as the future clinical site for LSU's Baton Rouge-based graduate medical education programs to train new physicians, helping transform the city into research and technology hub
- Added a number of pediatric subspecialists to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, providing expertise for children's care to the existing practices of orthopedics, pulmonology, gastroenterology, oncology, emergency medicine and general pediatrics
- Completed an expansion of the surgery area to enhance the experience for patients and their families. Private bays include a sitting area where family members are welcome to remain with the patient before and after surgery
- Earned three-year accreditation from The Joint Commission
- Implemented hospital-wide tracking system in which multiple departments can electronically coordinate services across the complex facility to improve the efficiency of patient access to the needed care setting
- The Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins received additional funding for a fourth year of the National Cancer Institute NCCCP Program, which uses cancer programs from across the country to guide community protocols that bring best-in-class cancer treatment to a local setting
- The Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins sponsored "Minority Cancer Awareness Day" to target patients who often miss screening opportunities. Nearly 500 individuals were screened for prostate, breast, skin, colon and oral cancers in a single day
- Our Lady of the Lake College was reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a master's degree conferring (Level III) institution for ten years-a tribute to the excellent educational experience offered to students
- Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group announced the addition of The Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge to its expansive network of physicians and opened a primary care practice in Brusly. The Physician Group has grown to a thriving complement of both primary care physicians and specialists with approximately 150 doctors
- Lake After Hours Kids, a first-of-its-kind urgent care clinic, opened in Baton Rouge to address the unique needs of children
- Lake Quick Care, operated by Lake After Hours, opened a medical walk-in clinic in downtown Baton Rouge, the first in this thriving part of town
- Lake After Hours opened new clinics in Zachary and Brusly to meet the urgent care needs of these growing communities
